ASSISTED LIVING -TELEVISION AND INTERNET
Finding an assisted living that suits your specific needs is a daunting task and it is easy to overlook basic questions. If internet is a priority, maybe not for your loved one, but for yourself during long visits, ask what services are provided or obtainable. If the community has Wi-Fi available, test the connection in your loved one’s prospective apartment on your smartphone, to make sure you receive a solid signal.
Each community’s television programming is different. Ask what programming is available. If dad needs all seven ESPN channels or your mother’s first language is Spanish, ask if mounting a satellite dish is acceptable. Most communities will comply with your request, as long as management is present to make sure that installation is executed in a discrete location. Similar to an apartment complex, the power of attorney will be the responsible party for installation and billing.
